Meet TSG NWA’s New Editor: Jennifer Esty

By now, many of you know that I have made a transition from The Scout Guide NWA. I’ve moved back to my hometown in Northeast Louisiana so that I can spend more time with my family. I couldn’t be happier to announce that my partner in crime and former TSG NWA associate editor Jennifer Esty has taken the reins as THE SCOUT GUIDE NORTHWEST ARKANSAS Editor + Owner!

Working with Jenn over the past two years has been so rewarding, and I just know that as your Editor she will bring so much creativity and local love all in support of our small business community in Northwest Arkansas.

Gratefully & Fondly,

Rebekah Lawrence

P.S. Learn a little more about Jennifer Esty below!

Rebekah: What led you to decide you were ready for this?

Jenn: It really just kind of made sense. Before I came to TSG I was in retail, small business social media and branding. It’s like my whole life I’ve been working for this position. Working with you as associate editor was really a dream job for me, and based on everything I’ve done in the past, it just felt right to step up and become editor when the opportunity was there. Plus, my husband Wade is a small business owner, so I know the grit and commitment that our members are living daily for their businesses and families. I want our boys (13 and 20 *gulp*) to see what it’s truly like to commit to what you love, and I think that Wade and I are doing just that. I am so passionate about this region and so passionate about small business…it was kind of a no brainer.

Rebekah: I have some of my own memories, but I want to know what your favorite memories working at TSG over the past two years have been.

Jenn: My first day at TSG was actually the launch of Volume 3 so my first experience was a launch party! Remember that? It was at the MUSEUM OF NATIVE AMERICAN HISTORY in Bentonville. That was a hard memory to beat! I’ve known you for years, even before I was with TSG so having the opportunity to work with you has been so great, and we’ve had lots of behind-the-scenes fun I’m certainly going to miss.

Rebekah: From Volume 3 to Volume 5, and beyond. The future here is looking bright! What’s up next for TSG NWA?

Jenn: Volume 5 is coming out mid-September! That’s the first book I’ve wrapped on my own and the exciting part is that I not only get to work with and promote the Volume 5 businesses I know and love, but I also get to start scouting for Volume 6. That opens the door to more introductions, discovering more incredible small businesses and new ideas and opportunities. This area has such an entrepreneurial spirit and I can’t wait to go out scouting it!

Rebekah: We both know this job keeps a girl busy. I have to know, do you have enough time to play tennis?

Jenn: You know how much I love tennis, and I always need some time on the court! I probably haven’t been able to play as much as I want to in the past couple months with wrapping up and proofing Volume 5, to be honest! But what I love about this job is that it is very flexible so I can be with my family and on the tennis court and live the local NWA life I cherish, support and promote all in one day.

Jenn will officially be kicking off scouting season soon, but if you’re ready to learn more about joining the TSG NWA family now, please email her at [email protected] to learn more about marketing packages. She can’t wait to meet you!
